Credit Card And Debit Card Security Tips!

If you live in an urban country then  you might have came across a card that you can use instead of money in big stores and gas stations. The card does need money to fill up but the need to carry a briefcase or big wallet for cash is the thing of the past. These cards contains all your banking information and your address! You guess is right this card is called Credit Card or Debit Card that people nowadays use for shopping in stores and shopping online :D. Sorry for the late intro but had to do it :P. Nowadays people use credit cards and prepaid debit cards more than cash because of the convenience and safety..
People use these for shopping everywhere online, offline, in person you name it! But with the power and a card containing all your financial records. It is impossible that this card can be totally safe. Many people try to steal your credit card or debit card info via the following methods. Again this is my personal research so some of the methods may be outdated or some may be missing but eventually i will fill this topic with safety tips for credit cards and debit cards. These are some of the best tips for the safety of your credit card and debit card online and offline!

01. Avoid Incentive Emails and Shopping Rebates from Unknown Sources!

You might have gotten Emails claiming to give you free money or even rewards by the well known websites if you submit or purchase something from the site or something similar. Many times you would get offers like buy 1 get 1 free or even magazine subscription emails! Note that these all emails will require you to put your Credit card information for purchase! Without the credit card they won't give your discount or accept your submission. Many Emails will offer you shopping rebate! But all Emails are from people that wanna steal your credit card information and use it to steal your money.

The best thing to do when you receive these kind of emails is go to the site directly which is offering the discounts or offers and get the offer directly! Don't click on Emails as they may be phishing Emails and you might get malware in the process or worse your identity stolen!

Also check the header of the Email to see the sender address. If the address is ok then it might be okay but it is recommended to visit the sites directly and not to click links in Emails!

02. Avoid Using Cards In Every POS!

When you swipe card everywhere then you can probably get scammed because there was a scam in the past which involved stealing many credit cards and debit cards information with a simple swipe. Basically the person can charge you whenever he likes ones he has your personal information. Avoid swiping your card in every machine. Instead visit the ATM machine and get cash before going on shopping spree! Visit closest ATM and get cash and pay via cash! This way you can avoid getting scammed! You wouldn't believe how big store's employee ripped many people by stealing their Credit cards and debit cards information. Use your credit cards in the stores and markets that you can't live without!

03. Online Usage:-

Using your credit card or debit card that is linked to your bank account can be the most idiotic thing that you can do! Using your credit card or debit card that is linked to your financial piggy bank can mean giving out the key to your vault to a complete stranger!

I am not saying that you will get ripped 100% times but come on! do you have a guarantee that the person won't misuse your CVV number?  instead use a Visa Gift Card or prepaid debit card that is not linked to your bank account and financial piggy banks! 04. Verifying Merchant:-

If you are stubborn and still wanna go nuts on online shopping then there is nothing that i can do but for the safety of debit card or credit card i will recommend that before purchasing or trying to purchase a product or services from a site first verify that the site is legit and the business they are offering or running are legit! You should verify if the merchant or website that you are buying from passes scamadviser's test!

05. Alternative Payment Methods!

This is the last method of safety for Credit Cards and debit Cards but that doesn't mean that this is any less of the above ones in fact this one is better then the above ones! When you purchase in stores or online then look for Alternative Payment processors like in online shopping many websites let you checkout or shop with PayPal similarly in stores many websites accept different kind of gift cards and other cards!

Never rush to your debit card or credit card for shopping. Simply see if there are alternatives that are available. I know many people will say where can they find alternative payment methods then many people should know that there are many payment methods accepted in stores also. Some even launched pay by bitcoin!
