Nowadays its easy to start blog and earn money online without a single cent or money! You can also manage your blog and if you have talent and can write good content then you can earn much more money than those freelancing jobs. But establishing a blog takes time and if you have freelancer job then don't just quit yet instead start the blog as the part time job.

You can host your blog for free and easily without much knowledge and without any kind of domain and still get a good response from search engines. You blog will be also SEO optimized because Google owns blogger and your blog will also get advantage due to the fact. Blogger is the best thing that can earn money if you follow the terms of blogger and when you have enough content join Adsense program. But if you wanna monetize with 3rd party content then i will suggest boost your blog with text and then add third party monetize methods.
The blogger is simply too easy for beginners unlike WordPress which require you a lot of knowledge and hard work to simply make a simple blog. Billions of writers are making fortune from blogger platform by joining the adsense program so if you are in article writing and wanna earn money then join blogger.
The only con i see is that blogger team will verify that you have enough content and your blog is older than 6 months older when you join adsense program. Which can came back in approval or rejection.
You thought this spot was for WordPress? well you were wrong again. This spot is reserved for the second beast and giant Tumblr! Why? because of its simplicity like Google's blogger and acceptance of large variety of affiliate links and what not. Tumblr is pretty okay if you new in writing articles and creating blogs.
Like blogger tumblr is also hosted by 3rd parties and you can host free blogs without any kind of fees and earn money from writing articles. You can also add popads etc so that you can monetize your blog pretty good. unlike Blogger and WordPress terms and banning blogs as spam when posted link shortners like Adf.ly etc to earn money, Tumblr is pretty okay with the 3rd party link shortners and earning money via 3rd party content.
Hubpages fall on 3rd category but when it comes to article writing or writing and earning money from it. Hubpages isn't doing so bad. So what you do here? this is not a blog but you start hubs which can be ingredients, Stories, Article, How to or anything that is writing. The stronger the content is the more points you get and if your articles writing or content writing is good then your hub can appear in the featured content on the main page.
So how you earn money on hub pages by writing articles? well the rules are simple. If you have enough content and good content then you can apply for adsense account so your hubs can get advertised and you can earn money via the hubs, Additionally you can also join shopping and affiliate giants like Ebay and Amazon and insert links in your articles so that readers can get interested in stuff and buy it and you get commission.
Careful though. Amazon rejects affiliate applications if you cannot make a single sale in 90 days. So again if you have good content writing and skills then this might be a good site to start your own small or micro blogs. You will also have to submit IRS forms to be able to cashout. The traffic is good on the site and you will earn handsomely via the site if you stick to it!
WordPress comes on number 4 but not because of its lack of functionality but because of that a user need more experience to handle a WordPress blog.
